Fantastic concept blog you have here. Are all these posts for real, or did you make some up?

My favourite is still:

_ I L L G A T E S

(contestant guessed a 'J')

Yes, these are all real and have appeared on the show in the past.

The pictures that illustrate the screw-ups are made up of course :)

contestant screw-ups are definitely the best part of the show! There is something inherently satisfying about it(or I'm just a mean prick).
Anyway, great blog!

The first one wouldn't work, because the first N in kiNdness would already be showing.

Great blog here - I've never seen anything like these mess-ups on the UK version of the show - but then I don't profess to watch every episode :-)

They weren't very well made, either. This one has two N's there, but there are three N's in the answer. Also, 1 E there, but 2 in the answer. Still funny though :D

Tim: Some of the puzzles are from the Toss Up round, where the letters slowly fill the puzzle one by one and the contestants have to buzz in when they think they can solve it.

I saw the right answer as soon as the picture came on. Maybe I just got lucky.

Very nice site!

That picture's not real! The puzzleboard doesn't look like that...

Love the ace of kidneys!

Why would "an act of kindness" be on the menu? These are funny though :D

Oh yeah, someone should delete all the spam here. And shouldn't newer comments be at the top? The video is also not working.

This had to be in the very early 1980's. I was watching with my dad. The puzzle had EVERY letter turned up...in other words, all the contestant had to to was read it. The puzzle read:

"IT'S A LONG WAY TO TIPPERARY"

The contestant, a rather rotund lady, read it loud and proud:
"IT'S A LONG WAY TO TRIPOLI".

She lost. The next contestant, a young man, sheepishly read it correctly and won.

Very interesting blog. Alot of blogs I see these days don't really provide anything that I'm interested in, but I'm most definately interested in this one. Just thought that I would post and let you know.
